SAFE

adj: free from harm or risk; secure

“God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him.” Psalms 46:1

I remember playing hide-and-go-seek and feeling like I had discovered the absolute best hiding spot. Under the stairs, behind an old chair, curled up in a blanket. No one would find me this time.

My heart would pound in my chest, and I would hold my breath each time footsteps grew louder and closer, then faded away. As soon as they were gone, I’d take a breath again and relax in my spot.

I felt completely protected, invisible, and totally safe.

It was all for fun when we were younger, but this grown-up stuff is not a game.

We really do need a safe place to hide these days. Our bodies and minds and souls are threatened for real, bombarded with pressures and worries and demands that seem overwhelming.

We need a peaceful, protected spot to retreat to, a place where we can be taken care of so we can make it through the day, the week, the season, or even the year.

Let’s remember that we have one with our arms-open, warm-hearted God.  He welcomes us in, ready to wrap us up in his protective care, to breathe into us the restoration and the refreshment that we so desperately need.

Let’s hide away with him for a few minutes today.

 INVITE HIM IN

Let Jesus be your safe place. Crawl into his presence and let him protect you from all the chaos and stress in your world.  The noise can come and go while you take some deep breaths and rest in his arms. He’s got you.
