ALWAYS

adv: at all times, unfailingly, consistently, forever

“For Jesus doesn’t change–yesterday, today, and tomorrow, he’s always totally himself.” Hebrews 13:8

Do you feel like I do–especially lately–that nothing in this life is sure?

People, circumstances, and plans change constantly. Not only do we have our own family, health, financial, and personal ups and downs going on, but we have collectively been experiencing the constant turmoil of a global pandemic and political unrest for way too long.

Every day I seem to experience a different combination of emotions, strengths, weaknesses, struggles, and growth. And as much as I like to plan and control, these things seem to be catching me by surprise more often than not.

Minds change unexpectedly.

Bodies change unexpectedly.

Relationships change unexpectedly.

Finances change unexpectedly.

Futures change unexpectedly.

And I realize that we can’t completely depend on anyone–even ourselves–100% of the time.

I’m so thankful that we don’t have to.

I’m so thankful that there is some-One who never, ever changes.

The same Son of God who was present at the creation of the universe, the same Messiah who was hoped and waited for, the same Jesus who changed every life he touched while he walked on this earth, and the same Savior who rose from the dead and sits with our Father in Heaven right now is always totally himself.

When we feel shaky, indecisive, disappointed, or just plain burned out, Jesus is there. Being his faithful, constant, even, dependable, gracious self. He will never change, he will never let us down, and he will never leave us alone.

We can completely count on Him. Always.

INVITE HIM IN

Thank him for being the One that is always sure, always constant in your life. Even when everything is changing and you feel unsettled and upset, he stays the same. He is the loving, attentive Jesus who faithfully took care of you yesterday, who is right by your side today, and who will hold you close to him forever.
