We Don't Have to Live in Fear

“They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.” Psalms 112:7

Who are these people who do not fear bad news? Where do they live?

Certainly not in my world.

Everyone I know fears bad news. We’re terrified of things both real and imagined. Our responsibilities are overwhelming and our expectations are high. We are trying as hard as we can, yet we still can’t control everything that happens. So we keep worrying, we keep hoping that bad things won’t happen to us or to those we love.

But we who belong to Jesus don’t have to live like this…

The people that the psalmist is writing about in this verse have something rock-solid to hold on to. They “confidently trust the Lord to care for them.”

In other translations, these words describe believers who are not afraid of bad news:

They have decided to trust the Lord. CEV

His heart is firmly fixed, trusting (leaning on and being confident) in the Lord. AMP

Heart ready, trusting in God, MSG

Their hearts are steady because they trust the Lord. NCV

And here is the REALLY GOOD NEWS: We have each been given the same protection, the same power, the same promises as these believers.  We have the same incredibly faithful, never-failing God who loves us more than we can possibly imagine.

All we need to do is HOLD ON to HIM…

Hold on to Jesus~

He is in control, and He is good. Ask Him to make your heart firmly fixed– steady and confident and trusting in Him. Give Him all of your fears, all of your worries. Thank Him that He is always right there taking care of you, no matter what comes your way.

What are you worrying about today? Can you place your anxiety in the hands of Jesus and let Him replace it with the true joy and peace that comes from belonging to Him? I’d love to hear how He is showing you how much He cares for you…
