God is in Control

“…Everything was created through Him and for Him. He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together.” Colossians 1:16-17

It was Earth Day yesterday. The day we designate each spring to consider this incredible planet we live on and how we can take better care of it. We teach the kids in school to recycle and compost. We clean up litter and plant trees. And we worry about the future as we look around at all the waste, all the mess.

And we worry about the future of our families, our homes, our jobs, our health. Every single day. We wonder if God created this beautiful world and then just left us to try to run it. And if that is true, then we are in serious trouble. Even though we sometimes like the idea, it is overwhelming and terrifying to try to control our own world.

He’s got the whole world in His hands, He’s got the whole wide world in His hands, He’s got the whole world in His hands, He’s got the whole world in His hands.

Remember that little song? We would sing this in Sunday School, and I would picture God’s strong hands cradling the huge green and blue ball we call home.

Maybe it really is that simple.

He really does hold our world. He created it, He rules it, and he loves us. No matter what we see or feel or experience, we can trust that the merciful and mighty creator of this world is still in charge. He is holding everything–including you and me.

Hold on to Jesus~

He did not leave you alone after He made you, and He never will. Your world might appear to be falling apart, but you belong to the one who holds everything together. Let Him remind you that He is in control.

What can you let Him hold in His hands for you today?
