God Comes Close
“You came close when I called out. You said, ‘It’s going to be all right.” Lamentations 3:57 MSG
The book of Lamentations is a tough read. It is brimming with expressions of grief, disappointment, destruction, and regret. But tucked inside these chapters of sorrow and mourning, we find some of the most reassuring truths about our faithful God.
But I have hope when I think of this: The Lord’s love never ends; his mercies never stop. They are new every morning; Lord, your loyalty is great. I say to myself, “The Lord is mine, so I hope in him.” Lamentations 3:20 NCV
His love never ends.
His mercies are new every morning.
His loyalty is sure.
And He comes close.
When we call to Him, He surrounds us. He quiets our hearts and comforts us with His presence and protection.
Even when we feel distant from God, when He seems far away or quiet, He is right there. In the times that we feel the most alone, insecure, discouraged, or heartbroken, we can trust Him to come even closer. I’ve heard story after story of people who have reflected on some of the most difficult times of their lives with gratefulness. For the pain, the stress, the grief? Of course not. But for the opportunity to feel the presence of Jesus in a way that they had never experienced before. Deeper, richer, surprising, new.
The more we need Him, the closer He will come.
Hold on to Jesus~
Call on Him. If you are feeling far from God, don’t give up. He sees you, He knows you, and He wants to help you. If you are struggling with discouragement or fear, ask Him to surround you with His love and protection. Let Him reassure you with His presence that you are precious to Him. He is closer than you can ever imagine.
