You Are God's Child
“So now you are not a slave; you are God’s child, and God will give you the blessing he promised, because you are his child.” Galatians 4:7 NCV
We read it, we hear it, we sing it: we are children of God. He is our good and loving Father. We belong to Him. It sounds wonderful.
But what does that feel like, look like in everyday life?
To some, it sounds as weird, almost cultish. They wonder what we have fallen for.
To some, it feels scary. The image of God as a father isn’t comforting or safe.
To some, it seems too good to be true. How could He love us like a dad?
Over and over in His word, God tells us that we are His children. That He has adopted us into His family. That we are brothers and sisters of Jesus.
And it’s not weird or scary or too good to be true. It’s just hard to understand… for all of us. Whether we know Him or not, it isn’t easy for our minds and hearts to make sense of this incredible relationship that He offers to us.
But I want to try.
What does it feel like, look like to be His kids?
He thinks about us every single moment of every day.
He wants the best for us.
He takes care of us, provides everything we need.
He relentlessly defends us and protects us from our enemies.
He holds us when we are afraid.
He sings over us.
He gives us wisdom and guides our decisions.
He cheers for us in our celebrations and cries with us through our heartbreaks.
He has an unbelievable inheritance for us. A glorious place of joy and freedom prepared for us to live with Him forever.
He loves us enough to give His life for us. And He actually did.
This is the kind of Dad He is.
Hold on to Jesus~
Ask Him to show you what it means to be a child of God. A sibling of Jesus. Let Him share with you the privileges of belonging to Him. There is more grace, more freedom, and more surprising joy than you can even imagine. He is your good, good Father…
