God is Generous

“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT

Generous is defined as “giving or sharing in abundance and without hesitation”.  I have to admit I don’t always think of God that way.  Sometimes I feel like I am just one of many voices clamoring for His attention. That maybe if I’m lucky, He will spare me a little bit of whatever I’m begging for.

But this verse, and so many more, tell me that is not the way it is. That it is not the way He is.  When we ask God for something, He hears us, He sees us, and He already knows what we need. And He generously overflows our hearts.

When it’s hard to trust? When loving people is hard?

Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 1:14

When guilt overwhelms us?  When our strength is depleted?

You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that by His poverty He could make you rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9

When we have more questions than answers? When decisions are complicated? 

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. James 1:5

When our hearts are breaking? When fear takes over? When we feel hopeless and alone?

He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Titus 3:6

Hold on to Jesus~

Ask Him to overflow you with His Spirit of grace. He is your provider, the source of everything you need, and He loves to take care of you. You can trust His generous heart.

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 NLT
