UNBREAKABLE

It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God…” Hebrews 6:19 MSG

Break-in. Break-up. Bad break. Breakable. Broken.

These words have a lot of negative connotations and emotions attached to them.  Fear and pain come alongside of brokenness. Loss and regret are close behind.

And that’s the world we live in. Our belongings, our bodies, our relationships, our hearts, our spirits are fragile. Frail. Vulnerable.

And it’s terrifying sometimes.

But we don’t have to live in fear when we are connected to Jesus. No matter what happens, no matter what we see, no matter what comes apart; the spiritual lifeline – the hope that he gives us – will not break.

Other translations of the Bible call this hope:

steadfast

firm

sure

strong

safe

secure

trustworthy

These words bring a deep breath of peace and calm. They are solid and true. So when we are afraid and unsure? When bad things are happening? When we are the ones who are broken?

That’s when we can absolutely count on Jesus. Our hope is found in the all-powerful, all-knowing, life-changing, grace-filled Savior who loves us forever.

Here’s the verse that comes before:

“…God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, the promise is likewise unchangeable. We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go.” Hebrews 6:18 MSG

Stand firm: Let him be your lifeline.  Reach both hands out and trust him. Even when things are breaking all around you – or inside of you – he will hold onto you. His promise of love and faithfulness is unbreakable. Thank him for this sure and steadfast gift of hope.
