Jesus Never Changes

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 NLT

This verse. It is the first thing I see when I sit down at church. Every week it is projected in huge letters above the platform. And every week it comforts me.

Because life is not sure. People, circumstances, and plans change.

We change.

Every day we seem to experience a different combination of emotions, energy, strengths, and weaknesses.

We change our minds unexpectedly.

We let each other (and ourselves) down.

We mislead, misrepresent, misunderstand.

We drop the ball more often than we catch it.

And we realize that we can’t completely depend on anyone–even ourselves–100% of the time.

I’m so thankful that we don’t have to.

When we feel shaky, indecisive, disappointed, or just plain worn out, Jesus is right there. He mercifully, faithfully holds the whole world–holds us–in his hands. He is strong, He is sure, He is in control. He will never change, never let us down, never pull the rug out from under our feet. We can completely count on Him.

Hold on to Jesus~

Thank Him for being the constant in your life. Even when everything is changing and you feel unsettled, He stays the same. He is the God who healed and transformed and redeemed His people in Bible times, and He still heals and transforms and redeems us today.

What characteristics of Jesus are you depending on to be constant for you today?
