When it is hard to believe Jesus, he understands. But he wants us to keep trying, keep trusting no matter what we see or hear or feel. When his time on earth was done, he gave us his Spirit to help us in our times of doubt. He knew we would need it.

Yes. In spite of the bad news, the chronic pain, the loss, the grief, the disappointing results. This form of the word “still” means nevertheless. No matter what happens, God is sovereign.
It feels so awful, so defeating when we are trudging through the hardest stuff of life. It’s really hard to think about anything else. But if we can find the strength to look up and remember that he is still on his throne, things start to get a bit brighter. Hope rises. Peace and rest and even joy begin to wrap around our fragile hearts.

Especially now. We all have too much to handle on our own in this life. Overwhelming emotions and high-stress situations threaten to drain our energy and leave us empty. In our hurry to find relief, we do what I did this morning. We look for the peace the world gives–even though we know it isn’t a real thing. Searching Google, shopping online, and mindlessly scrolling through social media often just makes us more anxious, doesn’t it?
When we remember to open our Bibles to look for peace, we can read beautiful Psalms, letters of encouragement, and stories about Jesus that reassure us of his love and care.

It seems like we are busy, worried, and stressed so much of the time. Even when we finally get a chance to relax with a quiet day or a vacation, our anxiety tries to come along too.
This is when we need to remember where our peace comes from.
Our God is present.
He is fighting to save us.
He is happy to have us back.
He will calm us with his love.
