God is Kind to Us
“Discover for yourself that the LORD is kind...” Psalm 34:8 NLT
I want one of those “kind” t-shirts. You know, the ones that say, “#Choose Kind,” “Kind Looks Good on You,” or “Kindness Matters.”
Because kindness does matter. And it changes things.
Random acts of kindness became a very popular thing to do a few years back. What a fun surprise at a drive-thru window to find that your meal or your coffee order has been paid for by the driver in the car ahead of you. It can change your mood, your perspective, your whole day!
Intentional acts of kindness can change more than that. Inviting someone sitting alone to join you at the lunch table; sacrificing a few hours to help with homework, moving, caregiving; waiting with a worried family member in the hospital; writing a simple note of encouragement; or genuinely listening to someone could possibly change the trajectory of his or her life.
Kindness.
It’s one of my favorite characteristics of Jesus. He does kind things all the time–big things, simple things, prayed-for things, and unexpected things. He knows what we need, He knows what brings us joy, and He delights in surprising us with these gifts of grace.
But this kindness He shows us matters in a much deeper way than any of our human efforts ever will. His kind ways toward us are never random, and His intentions are sure. The kindness that comes from Jesus is eternal. It is sacred and perfect and undeserved. And it can change our hearts, our souls, our lives forever…
“He is so rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom with the blood of His Son and forgave our sins. He has showered His kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.” Ephesians 1:7-8
Hold on to Jesus~
Thank Him for His kindness toward you.
He purchased your freedom with His blood.
He forgave your sins.
He showers kindness on you, along with all wisdom and understanding. Showers! Not just little drops here and there, but showers! He pours kindness over us all the time. Will we notice?
Will you share some of the specific ways that Jesus has shown kindness to you?
